About Althea

Althea Hayton began Wren Publications in 1995 to share her life's work as an author, counsellor, editor and independent publisher of non-fiction. Oxford educated, she was dedicated to enthusing, entertaining and communicating with others.

Althea was born in Sussex, England and lived in Hertfordshire with her husband. She left two sons and two lovely grand children. In the autumn of 2013, Althea retired from public life after developing Motor Neurone Disease. She was able to continue to write and edit books up to her peaceful end in August 2014. Her legacy actively continues today in the form of her Wren Publications and the Womb Twin project she started in 2002, both of which remain an invaluable resource.

The last decade of Althea's work brought to light a hidden population of (those she termed) 'Womb Twins' - the 10% of people worldwide who, it is now known, are born as an individual but were a twin for some time in the womb before birth. The loss of a twin has a big impact, and Althea's research sought to help the surviving twin (or 'womb twin survivor') to identify if they were a twin before birth, understand their later life experiences, gain new insights, and learn to heal an unknown, silent loss.

Wren Publications publishes and shares all of Althea's work and research via FREE e-books, published volumes of scholarly works, true stories from the Womb Twin community, self-help guides, and other useful resources. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Christian, Althea was to many people a caring and special friend.
